A large sterling silver table water or wine pitchers. This stunning jug or pitcher can be used for wine or water on a dining table, or simply enjoyed as the master piece in silversmithing it is. It is a designed in a very classical style, allowing it to sit in even the most modern of environments. It is an Eutruscan style with a large rotund body tapering into a thinner neck and once again opeing up to a large and genrous spout. The large open handle mades for easy pouring, even when full, and allowing for easy filling, finally allowing for easy cleaning.
The pitcher is fully marked on the base for L. Maciel. The Maciel Silver Factory was based in Mexico City, Mexico, from 1930 until 1970, at No 6 Sadi Carnot. The company produced high quality silver hollow-ware and a limited line of flat-ware along with some jewelry which consisted of mostly cuff bracelets. Everything that they made was superb quality and and a thick gauge of silver. This wonderful pitcher being no exception
This lovely hand crafted pitcher is an excellent example of their quality craftsmanship. It measures over eleven inches in height, and weights 7.090 ounces. It is stamped "L Maciel - Made In Mexico - Sterling - 0.925"'. A great piece of Mexican artistic brilliance.
The condition of each pitcher is immaculate having seen very little to no signs of ever being used. The makers marks are crisp and deeply stamped. Made in Mexico City, Mexico, Circa 1950's.
